Job Purpose

Responsible for a wide range of
activities including developing cutting edge SEO strategies, competitor
analysis and project management. This
position works closely with the ecommerce team to maintain and manage top-tier
search engines and other advertising channels. This person will be responsible
for implementing methods to improve websites organic search rankings (SEO).
This includes keyword research, analyzing websites, documenting SEO changes,
and communicating changes to management. In addition, the Search Engine
Specialist will develop and optimize every aspect of marketing campaigns,
including managing keyword research and bids, formulating and managing the PPC
budgets, analyzing results, and reporting results to management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Grow our keyword portfolio, manage the program
    with potentially millions of keywords and find new search venues to advertise in.
  • Optimize our keywords portfolio through testing
    with ad copy, landing pages, bidding strategies, negative keywording, etc.
  • Track, report, and analyze your PPC initiatives
    and campaigns.
  • Create business requirements and develop
    solutions to improve our search engine marketing process.
  • Stay current with new advances in search engine
    marketing and the competitive landscape.
  • Grow and manage our presence on non-affiliate
    comparison shopping engines such as Pricegrabber and Google Product Search.
  • Conduct keyword research and selection for
    pay-per-click campaigns and SEO projects
  • Analyze websites and document changes required
    for SEO
  • Monitor, on an on-going basis, company SEO
    results and manage projects to ensure continued high rankings
  • Provide ongoing support of all SEO initiatives
    including reporting, analysis and optimization recommendations
  • Proactively make strategic PPC campaign
    recommendations
  • Utilize bid management tools and data modeling
    to maximize the effectiveness of PPC campaigns
  • Monitor campaign results, analyze key metrics,
    and optimize click-through and conversion rates
  • Optimize landing pages for search engine quality
    score
  • Serve as liaison with paid search engine
    contacts
  • Execute in-house link building efforts
  • Read Analytics and be able to generate Ranking

  • & Traffic Analysis Reports

  • Expertise with local and national SEO
  • Make continuous site improvements insuring the
    it is always improving in terms of SEO
  • Maintenance of blog with search relevant content
    and links
  • Manage and create SEO friendly copy writes to
    produce engaging content
  • Develop optimized landing pages
  • A/B testing of landing pages and page elements
    to make improvements on our website
  • Manage and optimize Pay-per-click marketing
    (PPC) efforts
  • Maintain directory listing sites
  • Provide status updates in ecommerce team
    meetings (GDP)
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on website traffic
    and SEO/SEM initiatives
  • Work with the ecommerce team to implement SEO
    strategy and integrate with other marketing efforts (i.e., email
    marketing/promotions, etc)
  • Perform ongoing research, analysis and tests to
    identify areas of opportunity and improvement
  • All other duties as assigned

  • Qualifications

  • Minimum of
    2 years of search engine optimization and pay-per click experience
  • Statistics background
  • Experience managing PPC campaigns across Google,
    Yahoo, and MSN.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and programming (eg,
    Python, Java).
  • Self -learner and a passion for search engine
    marketing.
  • Good grasp of performance marketing, conversion,
    and online customer acquisition.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
    simultaneously, work within the ecommerce team, and other departments.
  • Savvy with social media trends including
    Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace, but not required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office (Excel, Access,

  • Word, Power Point)

  • Excellent verbal and written skills.

    Education

  • And/or Experience

    Bachelors
    in marketing, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field with
    minimum of 2 years experience in related field.
    Preferred: Web analytics experience with tools such as
    Google Analytics, coremetrics, etc.
