Purpose
The patient Financial Services Manager develops departmental policy; is responsible for the billing, collection, financial counseling, cashiering, and registration staff. Manages and coordinates resources and activities of teams to ensure departmental goals are met; performs trend analysis and produces reports; identifies and resolves problems for the purpose of achieving the departmental goal of maximum revenue and cash flow.
The Financial Services Manager position function is to manage the activities of Patient Accounting. This individual is familiar with the duties and responsibilities for each of the Patient Account department positions and will coordinate coverage of those positions when needed. The individual manages the day to day operations of the Patient Account Department under the direction of the CFO. This individual is self-directing and willing to accept the responsibility associated with maintaining the department goals which are to provide adequate cash flow for the facility and maintain a consistently low level of accounts receivable (AR).
Education And Experience
The position of Financial Services Manager requires the incumbent possess the minimum of an Associate's Degree, however a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Business Administration and/or Accounting is preferred. This position requires a minimum of two to three years of experience working in a hospital patient account department with a broad base of experience in all positions associated with hospital patient account positions.
This individual must be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally. This individual must deal courteously and tactfully with coworkers and be able to contribute to a pleasant, positive working environment.
