The Engineering Technician provides technical expertise to the manufacturing facility for electrical/electronic controls set-up, operation, calibration, and troubleshooting for the facility's manufacturing equipment and facility/utility equipment.
Additionally, this position is responsible for meeting with and qualifying vendors and suppliers to scope equipment/components for existing and future production lines and for determining the specifications of relevant spare parts under the plant spare parts program.
Key Accountabilities
Set up, ensure the efficient operation, and troubleshoot/repair the controls associated with the hardware and software for the facility's PLC, servo controller, operator interface, and VFD systems.
Maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate various types of field instrumentation (i.e. pressure transmitters, RTD's, load cells, etc.) and their interface to the control system.
Provide electrical troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment that includes single phase AC circuits, three phase AC circuits, and DC circuits and share knowledge of applicable electrical concepts/principles to other Maintenance personnel.
Provide electrical troubleshooting and general electrical engineering support to Maintenance personnel for all facility/utility equipment (i.e. compressed air, steam, water, etc).
Perform process line improvement and other special projects as assigned by the Manager of Engineering Technology in a cost effective and timely manner.
Read and update electrical drawings, manuals/schematics, P&ID's, and instrumentation lists as required.
Provide operating instructions and/or training of production line manufacturing equipment to other facility associates.
Generate Preventative Maintenance procedures for production line manufacturing equipment and qualify results.
With consent of Maintenance Supervisor(s), direct Maintenance personnel in performing and completing maintenance/repair tasks on production line manufacturing equipment.
What do I need to be considered a candidate?
Candidates Must Possess A Minimum Of
Six (6) years of industrial maintenance experience or advanced education in electrical, mechanical, or electronics engineering.
Two (2) years of PLC ladder logic programming experience.
Able to work off-shifts when necessary.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to use independent reasoning and judgment.
Ability to communicate with all levels of plant personnel.
Self-motivated and decisive
Proficient with standard Microsoft Office software packages (Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
