Complete Description
Responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography, echo's, nerve conduction, etc.
Responsible for daily operation of the sonographic laboratory, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality assessment. The sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve.
Maintains sonographic services in accordance with standards established by the District and with the State, local, and Federal standards which apply to ultrasound safety in the facility.
Incumbent and Administrator set standards of performance, limited only by organizational policies and budgets, with direct responsibility for final results.
Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in the specialty/ies as appropriate.
Current BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
IV Venipuncture/Contrast Administration course completion certificate (only technicians with this training and certification may perform injection of contrast administration procedures).
High School graduation or G.E.D. plus 72 college units in Allied Health in Sonography or related field required.
