Our client, a leading provider of Telecommunications network services is seeking a Network Operations Center Support Engineer to support its Enterprise and Government customers. This position will be troubleshooting, escalating, managing trouble tickets as well as handling all level 2 and 3 technical issues.
Responsibilities
Documenting and managing trouble tickets (Opening, closing, escalating) and assisting the technical needs of the customers.
Remote access routers and switches to help troubleshoot any network issues.
Escalate trouble tickets according to appropriate protocols and procedures.
Identify, isolate, and troubleshoot the problem to maintain minimal errors.
Provide pre and post customer support to ensure proper functionality of products and services.
Troubleshoot with third party vendors when necessary to solve any technical issues for customers and client.
Complete trouble tickets in a timely manner.
Be clear, concise, and unambiguous when assisting with technical issues, when escalating trouble tickets, must be precise and timely to whom to escalate the issue to.
Utilize network management solutions to solve real time network issues.
Alert and deploy Field Engineers to solve technical issues.
Available to work after hours and provide an on-call support service for clients and customers.Qualifications, Experience And Expertise
Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science or related field
Experience in networking protocols and solutions (Layer 2 (802.1q, 802.1p, QinQ, ethertypes, STP, L2vpn), MPLS, VPLS, Layer 3 (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), etc.)
Certified in Juniper, Extreme Networks, and Cisco highly desired but NOT required.
Experience working in a Telco, ISP, or related fields is a must
Familiar with multicasting, QoS/CoS, and TDM circuits.
Experience in a customer facing support NOC environment.
Must Have Experience With The Following Ethernet And VPN Protocols
802.x, Q-in-Q, MAC-in-MAC
MPLS, L3VPN, VPLS, L2VPN
Must Understand Network Concepts And Support Protocols
CoS, SLA, and network elements and circuits
NPT, DNS, RADIUS, SNMP
Experience in ITU-T, IEEE, RFC, MEF
Working knowledge with T1, E1, DSX, and OCX
Experience working in Layer 2 and Layer 3 network/service engineering
Experience with configuring Juniper, Cisco, Nortel routers and switches.
Ability to work on multiple tasks and meeting deadlines simultaneously.
Experience and capability of handle customer escalations.
Exceptional team player
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
