About The Position

Maryland Hillel seeks a motivated, creative individual with strong communication and organizational skills to serve as the full timeDevelopment Associate. The Development Associate will report to the Director of Institutional Advancement, and will work closely with the development team and Executive Director. The qualified candidate will have database and development experience, and meticulous organizational skills. An undergraduate degree and excellent written and oral communications skills are prerequisites. The Development Associate's responsibilities include the annual campaign, data entry and maintenance, supporting the development team and assisting to coordinate travel logistics and special projects.

Campaign Responsibilities

  • Manage the annual campaign, including writing content for direct mail and e-mail appeals, planning the calendar of appeals and overseeing list preparation and cleanup.
  • Assist with preparations for telethons and other calling campaigns.

  • Alumni Responsibilities

  • Serve as staff liaison for the Jewish Terrapin Alumni Association, working with alumni volunteers to plan events.
  • Assist with alumni stewardship and solicitations which may require travel.

  • Development Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and logistical support for special events such as parlor meetings, community receptions, Shabbatons and parent weekends.
  • Create e-newsletters to disseminate to parents, alumni and donors.
  • Research donors and prospects.
  • Participate in strategy conversations with the development team.

  • Database Responsibilities

  • Responsible for database management: update and clean-up lists, merge records, update system, and coordinate between various database systems, including Formstack, Little Green Light (LGL) and MailChimp.
  • Run lists, queries, and reports and assist the development team to analyze campaign progress.
  • Manage data entry and data analysis and oversee automatic gift entry of online gifts.
  • Test and map forms for relevant program registrations, surveys and donations.
  • Train and assist staff with the database.
  • Supervise intern to process acknowledgement letters and assist with database maintenance.

  • Administrative Responsibilities

  • Provide logistical support and organizational assistance for the Executive Director, as needed.

  • Qualifications

  • 0-3 years work experience, background in fundraising and constituent management database is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
