We are
searching for a Senior Logistics Manager who will be responsible for
working with the Corporate Logistics and Transportation Group and the
Plant Manager to develop and execute the distribution strategy for
the plant logistics operations. He/she will be responsible for the
Logistics function of multiple or complex Plant sites and their
associated warehouse operations; driving synergies between the
sites’ logistics functions. Also, this individual will be accountable for
sites achieving distribution cost goals, service reliability metrics,
and volume goals. The position will evaluate and drive improvements
in overall safety, along with operational cost effectiveness and
efficiency within the Logistics function.

The scope
of work will include all operational areas of Warehouse &

Utilization. This

position is accountable for ensuring that proper business and safety
processes are being followed. In addition, the individual will assist
with coaching, training and staffing for new and existing Logistic
employees (as related to their primary job function) to ensure
facility and department goals are aligned with Corporate and Plant
objectives. Additional responsibilities include leading and driving
National Logistics Initiatives and managing control of a Logistics
Center of Excellence.

This role
also serves as subject matter expert in one or more key logistics
functional areas, such as truck load weights, rail load weights,
warehouse/shipping performance management, inventory management,
operations systems/processes etc. The Sr. Logistics Manager will
report to the Plant Manager with dotted line to the Sr. Regional
Distribution Manager.

Specific
responsibilities include, but are not limited

To

Work in
sync with Corporate Distribution and the Plant Logistics teams, to
develop a distribution strategy for 1) products shipped from his/her
location and 2) for products manufactured by his/her Plant(s) in both
normal and high-volume periods. This includes the use of various modes, rail, intermodal,
vans, fleet, trans-loads, relays, etc., and distribution points in
remote markets to meet or exceed traffic lane
compliance.

Direct The

management of carrier service relations, to meet service
metrics’, including private fleet, ensuring that all orders are
dispatched and assigned for pickup on the appropriate ship date to
meet promised delivery dates, within approved traffic lane pricing
guidelines. Review
performance with carriers on a regular basis.

Champion
the Warehouse Improvement Process (WIP), ensuring that logistics
staff follow the process, minimizing labor cost, reporting
weekly metrics, conducting self-audits, meeting WIP goals (pallets
handled/hour, labor cost per pallet handled, and GAF private fleet
income). Identify process failures that led to missed goals and
develop and communicate continuous improvement plans to achieve
WIP goals.

Ensure
consistent shipping/warehouse/transportation process is documented
and implemented, proper inventory levels of raw materials are
maintained to meet customer demand and production efficiency goals
while minimizing inventory carrying costs. Ensure production
schedules are met by Production. Administer the Receiving
function.

Implement
continuous improvement process and development for his site logistics
team;providing
coaching, training and materials, implementing best practices,
facilitating change, and assuming ownership of the business process
across the operation. Act as subject matter expert in key logistics
functions, i.e. truck loading, rail loading, warehouse improvement
process, inventory management, systems and business processes
etc.

Lead,
drive and champion national logistics projects that drive down cost
and improve operations across the GAF distribution
network.

Perform
other duties as assigned.

Requirements

BA/BS Degree in Business and/or Logistics coupled with7+years related
experience in a high volume manufacturing, distribution, production
planning, and/or trucking environment. APICS certification
preferred.

Intermeidate proficency
in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP Systems, such as Peoplesoft or
SAP

Comprenensive knowledge of Transporatation
Management Systems, such as Carrier Point or Red Prarie

Familiarity with standard
manufacturing concepts, policies and procedures

Comprehensive knowledge and ability to
analyze carrier tariff agreements and related
pricing

Advanced project planning skills to
execute projects within scope, schedule and
budget

Strong verbal and written
communicartion skills as well as analytical and leadership
skills

Advanced ability to manage budgets,
for warehouse/shipping and private truck
operations

Frequent use of eye, hand and finger
coordination enabling the use of office
machinery

Specific vision abilities required by
this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception,
and the ability to adjust focus

Must continuously have the ability to
differentiate colors precisely

Occasionally operate business
machines

Regularly lift and/or move up to 10
pounds and occasionally up to 50
pounds
