Minimum of3+ years news editing/writing experience. Must be computer literate and have excellent writing skills. Position requires proficiency in writing news copy, fact checking and research; must work well under breaking news and deadline pressure. Knowledge of the broadcast area and station demographics is essential; 4 year degree in journalism preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Include The Following
Responsible for writing on-air news copy.
Writing and editing newscast/wire copy for broadcast.
Interviewing newsmakers for news stories.
Fact checking news stories and researching news topics.
Other duties as required by management.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and/or fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Position requires the majority of the day to be spent using a computer.
