Chesapeake Energy Corporation is seeking several talented individuals for the position of Engineering Advisor – Reservoir (Engineering Technology and Special Project Group). This position is based at our corporate headquarters in Oklahoma City, OK. We are actively seeking those with the drive and energy to join the most active drilling company in the U.S. and a desire to be part of a growing enterprise and who value the opportunity to engineer conventional and non-conventional onshore U.S. oil and gas- focused assets.

Responsibilities Include

  • Perform analytical and numerical reservoir modeling studies with an emphasis on shale gas, shale oil and tight reservoir systems. Ability to work with multi-disciplinary groups to design, build and execute reservoir models of complex, single horizontal well and multi-well systems.
  • Provide expertise and insights on integrated field development planning for all major resource plays within Chesapeake. Interact with Asset Teams, Engineering Technology, Geologic Technology and senior staff to drive technology, consistency and economic optimization into our long-term development planning efforts.
  • Act as a resource and technical expert to all of Chesapeake in the area of advanced Reservoir Engineering promoting both shared learning and best practices across the various Engineering and Geoscience organizations.
  • Develop reservoir surveillance and monitoring programs to better understand long-term reservoir performance and recommend types and amounts of data required to meaningfully characterize the behavior of and optimize economics for all major Chesapeake resource plays.
  • Perform exploration project evaluations including probabilistic reserves evaluations and economic analyses.
  • Integrate well performance/nodal analysis, pressure transient analysis, material balance, and volumetric/decline curve analyses in evaluations.
  • Perform field and screening studies of existing assets and potential acquisitions including the associated economic analyses (Aries).
  • Provide support for training, mentoring and development of the petroleum engineering staff.
  • Utilize rigorous logic and critical thinking skills to develop effective solutions to difficult engineering problems.
  • Effectively manage time and prioritize projects in order to meet established deadlines.
  • Perform all job duties in accordance with Chesapeake's Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines.
  • Qualifications Include

    • 10-plus years of industry experience with a minimum of 7 years reservoir engineering experience.
    • Reservoir simulation modeling and some RTA background required.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact in cross-disciplinary settings, across organizational boundaries and with senior management.
    • The ability to mentor and experience in mentoring less experienced and inexperienced individuals is required.
    • The ability to work independently, design and execute advanced reservoir studies with little input is required.
  • A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Petroleum, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
