Job Title: Hardware Design Engineer

Job Description

Responsible for the design, development and support of electronic hardware for the Power Range Neutron Monitoring (PRNM) nuclear instrumentation and control equipment. Perform requirements analysis and tracking; HW design and development; problem resolution; life cycle management; PLD design and development, and HW description language code reviews and integration testing.

  • Apply engineering principles and expertise while performing sustainable engineering on the PRNM nuclear instrumentation and control equipment.
  • Develop requirements analysis, design specifications, traceability matrixes, and test plans.
  • Develop, review and verify hardware and quality engineering documents.
  • Interface with all engineering disciplines to ensure product, quality, and schedule adherence.

  • Responsibilities

    Requirements identification and documentation, schematic capture, PLD and FPGA development, analog and digital circuit simulation, environmental testing, design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for reliability (DFR).

  • Support electronic circuit board obsolescence issue resolution (board refresh) for legacy components.

  • Qualifications

  • Education:
    Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a physical science discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years experience designing hardware for embedded control systems
  • Minimum Years Professional Experience: 5
  • Good Written and Verbal Communication Skills
  • Detail Oriented

  • Tools

  • Schematic Capture Tools: Cadence, Orcad, PCAD or Mentor Graphics
  • Chip Sets: Xilinx, Alterra, Lattice
  • PCD Tools: VHDL, AHDL, Verilog

  • Plus

  • Write C code and drivers
  • EMI - electromagnetic interference
