Sr. Logistics Coordinator
Performs logistics activities within established procedures including data
management, configuration management, shipping & receiving, inventory control
and supply maintenance. Will work at Naval Underwater Systems Center and
contactor site in Newport, RI facility on Non-propulsion Electronic Systems
for developmental submarine systems. Duties and Responsibilities Updates and
maintains databases containing tracking information. Determines status of
current orders and forecasts needs for future orders. Reconciles discrepancies
in inventory. Tracks spares and inventory to maintain appropriate levels.
Completes paperwork to order additional equipment according to production
plans. Verifies shipping records on incoming and outgoing shipments with
bills, invoices, or other records. Verifies materials received are as ordered.
Prepare all necessary shipment documentation, such as: Bill of Ladings, Pallet
Labels, and Packing Lists, etc. Makes specific changes to deliverables
according to a configuration management schedule and documents these changes
appropriately. Works cooperatively with cross functional teams on daily
activities. Logisticians integrate the spectrum of the logistics processes
within the operational, acquisition and wholesale environments. Logisticians
are responsible for directing the integrated logistics process, developing
support policies, procedures and systems, and providing implementation
guidance. The Logistician prepares and implements directives to ensure
effective logistics support, and establishes and enforces standards to ensure
that the assigned work force is properly trained and equipped. It is the
Logistician's duty to develop, initiate, integrate and manage all logistics
actions associated with life cycle management of weapon systems, subsystems
and equipment.
Education and Experience High school degree, some college or technical
training in a related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education,
technical training, or work experience and at least 2 years related experience
preferably in a warehouse/logistics environment. In some cases, educational
requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 3 years applicable work
experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge
or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or
labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data. Knowledge, Skills,
Abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Familiar with the
practices, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements involved in
logistics. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook. Ability to lift up to
40 lbs. on occasion. A SECRET security clearance will be required after
employment.
