Pep Boys is looking for qualified AutomotiveTechniciansto join our automotive service team atseveralChicagoland locations.

Responsibilities

Technicians are responsible for providing quality service by performing a variety of automotive services. These positions perform productive diagnosis, repair and replacement of general automotive parts and accessories, which may include:

  • Diagnostic services through proficient use of electronic test equipment
  • Specialized repair and replacement services to include: fuel injection systems, gas and diesel engines, on-board computer systems, and emission control systems
  • General repair and replacement services to include: brakes,wheel alignment, struts and suspension, engine performance (tune-up), fuel systems, cruise control, sound systems, exhaust systems, fluid and filter service, heating and cooling systems, air conditioning systems, drive train, and specialty installations.
  • Safety and courtesy inspections

    Master Technician: Minimum of one yearexperience asa Master Technician. Technicians with current ASE certifications 1 through 8 strongly preferred. If not certified, Pep Boys will require that within two certification test cycles, Master Technicians will pass ASE certifications 1 though 8. Pep Boys will cover up front the costs for ASE prep classes as well as for the ASE certification tests.

    EP Technician: Minimum of one yearexperience asan EPTechnician.Technicians with current ASE certifications strongly preferred. If not certified Pep Boys will also require that within two certification test cycles, EP Technicians will pass ASE certifications 1,4 through 8, andL1. Pep Boys will cover up front the costs for ASE prep classes as well as for the ASE certification tests.

    Technician A: Minimum of one yearexperienceas aTechnician.Technicians with current ASE certifications strongly preferred. If not certified, Pep Boys will also require that within two certification test cycles,a Technician will achieveASE certifications 4 & 5 plus any other two certifications.
    PepBoys will cover up front the costs for ASE prep classes as well as for the ASE certification tests.

    TechnicianB: Minimum of one yearexperienceas aTechnician.Technicians with current ASE certifications strongly preferred. If not certified, Pep Boys will also require that within two certification test cycles,a Technician Bwill achieveASE certifications4 & 5.
    PepBoys will cover up front the costs for ASE prep classes as well as for the ASE certification tests.

    Mechanic:Minimum of one yearexperienceas amechanic or an equivalent combination of education and experience. No ASE certification required, but for those who want to further their careers, Pep Boys will cover up front the costs for ASE prep classes as well as for the ASE certification tests.

    A valid driver's license is required as well as successfully completing a drug screen and background check.
