Job Description This position is responsible for a wide variety of engineering functions in order to support the plant's manufacturing efforts and will have extensive contact with individuals in the production areas, including both production workers and supervisors.
Principal Accountabilities
Support material development, mechanical and product design needs.
Create manufacturing routings and work instructions for improved build consistency and quality of product.
Provide training to manufacturing associates related to process improvements and use of new tooling/fixturing.
Develop time standards for processes.
Design tools and fixtures to improve efficiency and safety.
Provide budget information for capital equipment expenditures related to tooling, fixturing, and machinery.
Investigate and disposition NCRs (Non-conformance reports) & FPR's (Field performance reports).
Initiate and/or complete redlines (engineering document changes) and ensures proper documentation is implemented to make the necessary revision changes.
Troubleshoot technical issues with product.
Review new product design prior to introduction to ensure ease of manufacturability.
Liaise concerns from shop floor manufacturing to engineering.
Identify and coordinate the implementation of manufacturing process improvements by designing and/or sourcing needed manufacturing equipment and tooling.
Monitor and audit process performances.
Identify and initiate cost savings plans for manufacturing existing products in a more cost effective and timely manner, and develop any appropriate AFE (Appropriation For Expenditure) requests, and required supporting documentation, to accomplish the cost savings goal.
Seek out, visit and qualify new vendor manufacturing resources from a technical viewpoint as required, and how that resource capability might be transferred to another facility if required.
Job Requirements/ Qualifications A BSIE degree with five years experience or a Masters degree and two years experience is required. Training in MTM, MSI Work Measurement Data Development and knowledge of stress analysis and mechanical apparatus design is a plus.
Computer skills (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook).
Experience with SAP or other ERP/MRP systems is required
Strong background in shop procedures and practices, knowledge of methods and standards, and a specialized technical education in math and mechanical theory is preferred.
