Qualifications
The following qualifications are required to be accepted into our Student Driver Program:
Have a valid CDL Class A (HAZMAT not required but encouraged)
Be at least 21 years old
Meet DOT requirements and pass a DOT physical, which includes substance screening
Have a safe driving record
Have a good work history
Be able to fulfill the physical demands of the job
Be a graduate of a truck driving school approved by Drivers Management
Drivers who meet the qualifications and are accepted into our Student Driver Program are required to complete the Werner training program (minimum of 275 driving hours). During the training period, the trainees are assigned to a trainer and a student driver manager (SDM). The training system promotes education and progressive driver development and improves communication between driver and corporate office personnel. The SDMs work closely with the Safety department to ensure all safety requirements are met and regulations/company policies are followed.
One of the many benefits of being a professional driver with Werner Enterprises is tuition reimbursement. Driver's Management will reimburse to the driver, $100 per month, on the first pay period of each month, as long as you are employed with Werner. Reimbursement starts on the first pay period of the month following the completion of 30 days of employment. The total amount reimbursed will not exceed $6,000.
