Bachelor's degree in IS/IT or equivalent preferred

Skills / Experience



• 5 years+ Linux support or sys admin experience BA/BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience

• Experience with mail (IMAP, SMTP), Syslog, LDAP, SQL, Apache

• Strong knowledge of Shell, Perl, Python, Java or Ruby Occasional on-call rotation File system experience including NFS and AFS

Networking basics: TCP, UDP, IP, etc. Routing, DNS, network performance tools

• Experience with host monitoring systems

• Experience with global IT deployments Excellent teamwork and communication skills

Responsibilities



Benchmark and Baseline existing systems Heavy scripting (Perl, Python, Bash, Ruby)

• Manage server configurations Linux OS management (Ubuntu, SUSE) Service management (SQL, LDAP, Apache) Experience coding RAILS applications

• Experience writing Redmine or Gitolite plugins

• Familiarity with Git Performs system upgrades Notifies customers of changes, outages and improvements Ensure server availability, redundancy, and failover Respond to outages, and service failures Monitor the performance of websites Remotely troubleshoot and diagnose hardware problems Identify and triage all outage related events Identify and improve upon existing setup Plan for expansion, to meet customer needs Documentation, knowledge sharing, and training
