Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, health, industrial hygiene, environmental or chemical engineering, or demonstrated equivalent.
  • OSHA 40-hour and Supervisor training certification.
  • Minimum of three years work experience in the environmental investigation and remediation arena.
  • Knowledge of federal health, safety and environment (HSE) regulations and environmental health practices.
  • Must successfully complete a medical examination designed to evaluate ability to: (1) work on hazardous waste sites as defined by OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120, and (2) wear respiratory protection as defined by OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134.
  • Enrollment in a medical surveillance program requiring initial and annual medical exams, and periodic and random drug testing.
  • Candidate must obtain negative drug result on drug screening performed in accordance with URS drug testing policy.
  • Valid driver's license. Position requires travel to project sites and transport of light sampling equipment.
  • Have the ability to perform physical requirements of work assignments, e.g., bending, kneeling, standing, confined space entry and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Have the ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and have a tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions.
    Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

    URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Health & Safety Professional for immediate employment in the Newark, DE office.     Requirements

    Candidate will be responsible for providing technical assistance to office and field operations to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and/or Company HSE policies and procedures. Work sites may include chemical plants, inactive former manufacturing facilities, and wastewater treatment facilities. Duties will include the following:

  • Supporting industrial hygiene and environmental sampling projects, including collection of air, water or soil samples.
  • Prepare project-specific Health and Safety Plans.
  • Participates in employee health and safety training and emergency preparedness.
  • Works with others to investigate workplace safety and environmental incidents.
  • Works with technical staff to develop Job Safety Analyses for identified tasks.
  • Manage /monitor office personal protective equipment and safety supplies.
  • Function as a health and safety officer on large projects or be responsible for multiple aspects of health and safety on small projects.
  • May be required to work in an environment with chemical and other hazards.
