Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering.
Professional Engineering License in DE, PA, NJ, or MD or ability to apply for reciprocity.
8 years engineering and project management experience with soil and groundwater remediation feasibility studies, remedial design, construction, and operation.
Experience with federal superfund (CERCLA) and RCRA corrective action remediation programs as well as state cleanup regulations. Broad regulatory understanding desirable for identification of ARARs and state and local permit requirements.
Demonstrated experience in wide range of containment and in-situ and ex-situ treatment technologies through-out all phases of project from feasibility study through implementation and O&M.
Demonstrated oversight and leadership for system tie-ins, start-up, operator training, O&M manuals, and project close-out.
Experience participating in or leading facility process safety management design reviews, process hazards analyses, and pre-start-up safety reviews for chemical or industrial clients.
Ability to lead multi-disciplinary design, construction, and operations teams to meet client project needs.
Effective verbal and written communication skills for project presentations and reports.
Experience with project and program management software including Microsoft project and excel or other equivalent tools for budgeting, cost tracking, and scheduling.

The Infrastructure and Environment Division of URS is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Principal Environmental Engineer for immediate employment in the Newark, DE office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in civil, chemical, or environmental engineering, specific to soil and groundwater remediation projects. Incumbent Responsibilities
Provide engineering and environmental compliance support for design, construction, and operation of soil and groundwater remediation systems located at former waste disposal sites and operating chemical manufacturing facilities.
Researches feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory agency guidance documents and specifications.
Evaluates site conditions and recommends remediation technologies to address remedial action objectives. Remediation technologies include containment (i.e., engineered covers/caps, sheet pile barrier walls, slurry-walls, hydraulic controls), in-situ treatment (i.e., soil vapor extraction, chemical oxidation, stabilization, thermal), and ex-situ treatment (soil and sludge stabilization, dig and haul, soil thermal treatment, groundwater treatment).
Provide technical and project management support to clients for all facets of project execution from design through operations.
Provide interactions with client and regulatory personnel on a wide range of technical issues related to project implementation.
Project manager activities will include: preparation of feasibility studies and regulatory design submittals; preparation of design drawings and specifications; preparation of permit applications; preparation of construction bid packages; preparation of cost estimates; evaluation of contractor proposals; contract administration; preparation of cost tracking documents; review and coordination of construction documents; interactions with contractor personnel; management of waste residual; planning and technical support for construction and start-up activities; and technical support for operations activities.
Lead multi-disciplinary resources and project teams to best serve the needs of the URS Corporation and their clients.
