Working closely with the other members of the Employee Benefits Accounting Team this assignment involves a high level of independent judgment, decision-making, accuracy, creativity, and initiative. Also requires working closely with other departments such as Finance and Human Resources to obtain required input to support the accounting activities of the Company's various employee benefit plans.

Accounting related work (e.g., journal entries, account analysis, reconciliations, etc.)

Providing internal and/or external financial analysis, consultation and decision support

Prepare and analyze financial statement disclosure for applicable areas

Understanding of and ability to apply U.S. GAAP accounting and financial reporting standards

Potential to research accounting issues and determine appropriate guidance

Apply and develop internal control procedures

Identify, interpret, and analyze potential accounting risks and issues

Analyze data, evaluate trends and make recommendations

Develops and presents data to other members of the organization

Writes reports and summaries of findings

Develop common processes, re-engineer and streamline work efforts in department and other impacted areas

Coordinate with others for workflow improvements

Participate in SOX compliance and audits internal audit and resolution of any matters

Work with external auditors and cross functionally within the Company

Basic Required

  • BS Accounting or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting
  • Demonstrated process improvement skills
  • Outstanding change management skills
  • Project management skills
  • Excellent communication, team building, and planning skills
  • Aptitude to resolve issues under tight timeframes and pressure
  • Proactive work style; desire to take on additional responsibilities
  • Proficient PC skills--Word, Excel, Access, Lotus Notes
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize assignments/projects and multi-task within restricted time constraints

  • Basic Preferred

  • CPA or equivalent (e.g. Chartered Accountant (CA) - active license holder
  • Experience in application of employee benefits (i.e. incentive compensation, retirement benefits, non-retirement postemployment benefits)
  • Previous Public Accounting experience
