The Assistant Buyer assists the VDC Buyer with business strategies designed to maximize sales and margin while providing critical support to the online direct to consumer portion of the company's web platform. They will be working closely with members of the Buying, E-Commerce, Marketing, and Operations teams, to obtain and communicate the information needed for successful execution of the merchant vision as it relates to the online store.
Responsibilities Include
Developing knowledge specific to the Bed Bath and Beyond buying function; including merchandise selection, pricing, vendor / sku on-boarding, and marketing.
Multi-Tasking due to the amount of cross-departmental coverage required as part of the VDC program.
Assisting the Buyer with all administrative functions
Maintaining all operational systems – status management, vendor score card, & competitive shop analysis.
Running daily/weekly/monthly reports related to sales and inventory. Providing insightful, clear and relevant analysis that can provide opportunities and solve problems.
Assisting in the planning/coordination of products for advertising and promotion.
Working with e-comm team to aid and understand the merchandising calendar for website home and landing pages
Special projects as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail or Marketing
Minimum of two years experience in e-commerce environment
Highly organized with great attention to detail.
Solid oral and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize workload effectively.
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
Strong problem-solving skills coupled with the ability to analyze statistics.
