Job Function Qualcomm is seeking candidates to join the engineering product development team to launch a new Qualcomm wireless charging technology. The successful candidate will be a key contributor within the engineering team by helping customers understand WiPower technology, and providing collateral, training and design-in support.
Responsibilities Contribute to the Wireless Power engineering team supporting OEM/ODM to design wireless power transfer systems into handheld devices (such as cell phones, tablets etc.).
Work closely with the Qualcomm design team, product marketing team, and other members of the applications team to create documentation, reference schematics, and training material.
Train customers, provide design assistance, and troubleshoot design and implementation issues.
Play consultant expert role, troubleshooting, identify problem reported by customers, analyze and report issues to developer team, help developer team to narrow down the root cause and fix problems.
Customize wireless power product to meet customer needs.
Create new antenna designs, holding fixtures and test fixtures. Assess interoperability between resonator types. Support EMI and RF desense testing.
Skills/Experience Minimum of 3-5 years prior experience in wireless applications is preferred.
Basic knowledge of analog circuit design. Microprocessor/DSP/FPGA/PCB hardware design/ and Wireless Power design experience is highly desirable.
Strong RF debug and RF test equipment skills.
Expertise with spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, etc.
Familiarity with schematic capture/layout tools and RF specific layout practices.
Candidate preferably has experience interfacing with customers in person, over the phone, and via e-mail. Excellent communication (English - both written and verbal) and teamwork skills, proactive attention to detail, and the ability to learn quickly and produce quality work in a multi-tasking environment is a must.
Strong knowledge of simulation tools including MathCad, Matlab and SPICE.
Self-motivated, willing and able to operate with little direct guidance or supervision, working effectively with incomplete or vaguely defined requirements, and have familiarity with protection of intellectual property. Travel is required (US and International).
