Job Function As a member of the Engineering Compute Technologies Hardware Engineering Architecture team, you will be expected to work with your peers and/or independently on the design, development, testing, implementation, and documentation of solutions to address unique challenges in Engineering. This may include the development of scripts and processes to automate the management of specific environments, testing and documenting the requirements for integrating a new EDA tool or simulation device into the environment, and/or researching new techniques for providing optimal performance and utilization of our EDA licenses and compute resources. Your solutions will be site agnostic, designed to perform anywhere without modifications, and will conform to industry best practices and Qualcomm/Engineering Compute standards. You will work closely with the Hardware Engineering design community, vendors, and peers as a subject matter expert. You are energized by change; enjoy evaluating new technologies, keeping standards up to date, and keen to solve problems within a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities Work with the grid administration team, application vendor, and other service owners on the integration of applications and unique/custom hardware into the batch computing system
Provide timely and standardized solutions, advice, and support to the Electronic Design Automation and Hardware Engineering design teams
Assist with the development of roadmaps, schedules, and projects for advanced solutions development and delivery
Skills/Experience Very knowledgeable on Unix/Linux operating systems, Unix/Linux concepts, Unix/Linux setup, Unix/Linux utilities,
Very knowledgeable with Unix/Linux applications, Unix/Linux scripting, Unix/Linux programming, Unix/Linux debugging,
Extensive knowledge with a Unix/Linux batch computing system as a super user, systems/service administrator, or developer
Extensive knowledge with integrating applications and unique/custom hardware into a batch computing system,
Knowledgeable on the various systems and services that comprise a Unix/Linux environment,
Aware of the required services for maintaining a stable Unix/Linux computing environment,
Good experience with software and hardware Engineering functions and processes,
Able to setup a test case in a Unix/Linux environment, trace its processes, analyze, and report the results,
Able to write code snippets to demonstrate a concept or best practice,
Able to decipher the flow of a shell script or object-oriented perl, C, C++, etc program,
Have good customer service experience and can clearly and concisely convey useful information,
Proven ability to work within a geographically dispersed team and as a self-directed individual contributor.
Education Requirements Preferred: Master's, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering
Required: Bachelor's, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science or equivalent experience
