Postion Summary
Responsible for the development and implementation of dairy categories and sub-categories, including physical sourcing and risk management strategies. Builds and maintains strong working relationships with internal business partners and key suppliers for dairy commodities. Tracks and manages cost variances (PPV) as well as compliance and focuses on identification and implementation of value addition projects in concert with internal customers.
Primary Responsibilities
Execute purchasing activities from the development and implementation of the sourcing strategy to the management of agreements and vendors for defined dairy categories
Collect and analyze category data and develop the internal and external category profile, including analysis for market forecasting, risk management and situation analysis, particularly focused on dairy, both domestically and globally.
Develop, implement and communicate risk management strategies.
Understand, evaluate and communicate government regulated milk pricing, including FMMO, CDFA and U.S. tariff implications, and strategize optimization of dairy purchasing in regulated systems.
Work with international dairy buyers to maximize purchasing synergies on a global basis
Develop fact-based negotiation strategies and conduct negotiations with vendors
Conduct qualitative and quantitative vendor analysis
Develop Requests for Information (RFI) with potential vendors
Develop Request for Proposals (RFP) and Requests for Quotes (RFQ), assess results, document recommendations and communicate results to vendors
Manage vendor relationships, track performance and communicate vendor performance feedback
Develop and maintain vendor agreements
Monitor compliance with vendor agreements
Work with Operational Buyers and internal customers to ensure satisfaction
Define and execute the implementation plan for the category
Identify activities, timeline, ownership, etc
Oversee implementation activities, assess and mitigate potential implementation risks
Reconcile potential strategic sourcing outcomes and action plans with business partners prior to executing the sourcing initiative, to eliminate executional barriersRequirements And Minimum Education Level
Bachelors Degree required
Travel = 20%
Experience
5+ years purchasing and/or risk management experience; preference for progressive experience in dairy. Preference for hedging, futures and options experience in commodities. Preference for experience leading and developing people.
Must be excellent communicator, have creative insight and be a solid team player. Effective skills in financial, market and vendor analysis. Candidate must have demonstrated learning agility, proven ability to adapt to change, ability to work across boundaries and borders, strong decision making, skills in collaboration, and ability to define and create total cost of ownership models.
