Responsibilities

Bronto Software is seeking a Software Engineer with DBA experience to assist in theplanning, designing, building and administration of our SaaS production systems. Bronto Software tracks and aggregates hundreds of millions of data points every day and provides near real-time analysis and reporting to our customers. MySQL Performance Engineers hold a unique dual-role spanning the responsibilities of both Production Engineers and traditional MySQL DBAs. Responsibilities will include tasks such as query optimization, performance tuning, capacity planning, tooling key metrics, and writing software across all tiers. Our Production Engineering team is small and nimble; qualified applicants will have direct interaction in scaling a high volume, big data application. Participation in an on-call rotation is also required for this position.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
• At least 2 years of experience administering MySQL 5.x environments
• Strong knowledge of a high-level language (PHP and Java a big plus) or C (youre hired)
• Knowledge of Linux, web server, andMySQLtuning and performance optimization
• Advanced knowledge of MySQL and InnoDB internals
• Experience working with Subversion, Git, CVS, or other source code management tools

Nice To Have

• Software development experience with an emphasis on object-oriented design
• Familiarity with design patterns, unit testing, and writing testable code
• Experience with automated configuration management (Puppet, Chef)
• Production experience with Hadoop, Hbase, Capistrano
• Knowledge of SAN technologies including performance tuning
• Experience consuming and publishing web APIs (SOAP/WSDL, XML-RPC, REST)
• Knowledge of Internet/email marketing software, email systems, web analytics or other highly transactional write-intensive systems is also highly preferred
