Patient Account Representative

HOURS: Monday - Friday --10:30 am - 7:00pm We need a Patient Account Representative totroubleshoot case issues and manage resolution to completion. Act as a patient advocate by providing information and education on health insurance benefits, insurance billing, and the reimbursement process to our customers. This position is in a call center environment. Bi-lingual (Spanish) fluentin verbal and writtencommunications.

Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming telephone and e-mail inquiries.
  • Complete Case Manager Worklist tasks assigned.
  • Review case history and insurance notes to provide information and / or determine next steps needed on the case.
  • Call insurance companies and/or physiciansto obtain information or provide information needed to resolve case issues.
  • Follow-up on open inquiries and unresolved case issues.
  • Communicate the results of a benefit investigation to patients and physicians as needed.
  • Pre-qualify patients for the financial assistance program and explain payment options when needed.
  • Initiate appeals or patient billing process when needed.
  • Report all insurance company trend changes to the Reimbursement Manager and Account Executive.
  • Participate in team meetings by sharing the details of cases worked.

  • Education/Experience

  • High school diploma
  • Must possess a minimum of four years health insurance billing experience
  • Knowledge of managed care industry including payer structures, administrative rules, and government payers.
  • Proficient in all aspects of reimbursement
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills
  • Ability to listen and work well with others
  • Detail oriented
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel
