We are currently seeking an associate for our client's Labor and Employment Group with 2-5 years of litigation experience. Candidates for consideration will convey an interest or have a background in Labor and Employment law. This is an excellent opportunity for growth in a collegial firm that values quality of work over billable hours. Will represent public agency clients in labor and employment matters. Work with cities, counties and special districts across California on matters ranging from conducting negotiations and representing clients in labor disputes to defending against claims of discrimination and harassment. In addition to defending clients in already-existing labor disputes, will help conduct labor negotiations and represent clients in the course of meeting and conferring with labor organizations. Also assist clients in drafting, revising and updating personnel policies and procedures, and work with clients at the various stages of the disciplinary process; including drafting disciplinary notices and providing advice regarding the disciplinary appeals process.

Competitive salary – Up to $105,000 starting base salary plus generous benefit plan.

Requirements

Excellent research/writing skills and experience, superior public speaking ability, and a high degree of interest in development of the law and working with public agency clients are required. A public service background would be helpful but not necessary. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team; will work closely with experienced lawyers who will provide active mentoring and opportunities to assume increasing levels of responsibility and client contact. Prior experience in a sophisticated law firm practice preferred.
