Title: Regional Environmental, Safety and Health Manager, North AmericaStrategy: As a major element of the role is to continuously reduce the risk to the business, the Regional ESH Manager is instrumental in identifying, communicating and working closely with regional leadership in establishing the regional ESH strategy. The position holder is responsible for establishing a regional strategy in line with the Global Safety and respective Business and Supply Chain strategies while ensuring the requirements set forth in the Global ESH standards and local regulatory requirements are met. The Regional ESH Manager will participate in local and regional business operations planning to prioritize ESH initiatives and ensure the greatest business value for ESH solutions / elements. The position holder is responsible for measuring and managing ESH performance in the region and establishing appropriate initiatives to ensure performance targets are achieved

The Regional ESH Manager reports to the Director of Global Safety & Environment and is responsible for the overall management and direction of Environmental, Safety & Health within the respective region.
This position is accountable for ensuring regional compliance with national and local ESH laws and regulations, Corporate ESH Standards and for developing and implementing policies and procedures which are consistent with the Company's vision, mission and values, as well as minimizing the Company's general liability and exposure to environmental, safety and health risks.
Leadership: To establish an effective management approach to environmental, safety & health in the region, the Regional ESH Manager provides leadership and guidance to local ESH managers. The position holder needs to actively build a high performance ESH organization by setting professional goals for local ESH Managers as well as integrate into the performance evaluation process. It is the responsibility of the Regional ESH Manager to establish regular networking and communication opportunities while at the same time continuously developing the regional ESH team.
The Regional ESH Manager performs regular on site audits of Wrigley facilities. While these audits uncover areas where specific laws, regulations or company standards and policies are not being fully implemented, they also provide the opportunity to work directly with operating management at the location to develop specific plans necessary to correct potential problem areas. Once audits are completed, a full report is developed and shared with local management. It is at this point that actions are developed for corrective measures and time frames established. The position holder drives compliance in the region by ensuring that each location is adhering to mitigation plans, providing solutions and projecting compliance trends. In addition, audits also help the incumbent to identify new areas where ESH issues are of concern, and to formulate appropriate responses or measures.Deployment: The Regional ESH Manager is responsible for the identification of opportunities and development of strategies and deployment of policies and procedures establishing a standardized approach to risk reduction. This includes the identification and implementation of standardized solutions for common applications in the region and shared globally.
Technical Expert/Innovation: The position requires a high level of technical expertise and provides subject matter expertise in regional and local projects to ensure that environmental, safety and health risks are mitigated. The incumbent works as part of a team with regional and location specific engineering, quality and production personnel to ensure that all applicable ESH laws, regulations and standards are taken into account at the design stage of each project. The position holder takes an active role in reviewing both in house and third party engineered equipment early in the design and selection process to ensure that all ESH concerns are adequately addressed by the provision of adequate well engineered, safeguards.
The Regional ESH Manager is equipped with the knowledge necessary to serve as the Company's in house consultant with regards to: regional environmental, safety & health laws and regulations, Corporate ESH standards and appropriate related directives; evaluating the potential environmental and health risks associated with new and existing ingredients, performing effective safety engineering evaluations on internally and externally designed equipment and processes. In addition the position holder possesses strong management, written, computer and communication skills to effectively interact with both senior and local regional management, outside regulatory agencies and organizations as well as other personnel at all levels within the organization worldwide.
Undergraduate in Engineering / Technology field with emphasis in Safety, an alternate would be Science field related to the environment (more emphasis would be needed in experience around safety)
