Field Engineer - Process Engineer
Job Descriptions
Edeniq’s Omaha, NE-based Field Engineering team is responsible for providing customer support through deep process expertise in Edeniq’s technology offerings. This support includes engineering design, project management, construction support, commissioning and start-up assistance, and the ongoing assurance of high-quality, profitable operations for Edeniq’s customers and operating partners – including continuous process and technology improvements. These efforts are focused primarily on the “first generation” Edeniq technology offerings in ethanol manufacturing.
The key focus for this resource is the use of scientific and engineering analysis to evaluate our process performance, including advancing a “first principles” understanding of the technology offering; and then the application of this information as the basis for optimization of current and future partner site operations and installations.
There will also be some opportunity to contribute on second generation (cellulosic and advanced biofuels) technology development efforts at Edeniq’s Visalia, CA-based facility or through partnerships at other sites. These interactions will likely increase as these new processes are brought closer to commercial roll-out in the industry.
Specific Responsibilities
Develop and lead plant, laboratory, and modeling investigations to increase understanding of the technology and to drive holistic operational excellence at all installations.
Use data from laboratory and plant experiments to improve process basis knowledge and optimize equipment offering by Edeniq.
Lead troubleshooting efforts at sites that have Edeniq technology and develop corrective action plans to address process problems or difficulties.
Develop and deploy predictive testing and evaluation protocols that can be used by Field Service and Sales organizations to develop additional sales in the industry
Lead efforts with multi-functional teams to implement changes to the process or operation that are predicted to improve performance.
Prepare and deliver training materials to third party customers, including operations and technical audiences.
Participate in commissioning start-up and process turnover activities.
Participate in Process Hazard Assessment (PHA) activities, including HAZOP procedures as needed.
Required Experience
B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering (preferred) or other related engineering field. A proven track record in successful application of deep fundamental and applied knowledge in chemical processing technologies is critical.
Minimum 8 years of experience as a process or production engineer in a chemical process environment.
Significant exposure and experience in process development and working with new and developing technologies, particularly in a manufacturing environment.
Working knowledge and experience in process engineering design practices, project deliverables and execution (team structure and workflow, schedule management, cost control, change management, design documentation, design justification, specification development, option analysis, vendor selection and review)
Experience creatively integrating laboratory and plant operational data to continually develop conclusions and challenge hypotheses.
Ability to work on multiple technologies and improvement stages and manage deliverables simultaneously.
Excellent speaking, written and organizational skills.
Customer focused approach to field efforts and an independent drive to meet project goals.
Ability to function in a multi-disciplinary team and to fulfill different roles on different project teams.
Ability to mentor young engineers and develop skills in process development for Edeniq.
Experience with commissioning and starting-up new facilities and unit operations.
