General Job Objective

Manitowoc Cranes, a global leader in lifting solutions is seeking a detail oriented Lead Programmer Analyst to help provide leadership for Manitowocs Applications team. In this role, the individual will help to drive and ensure alignment to the enterprise goals, objectives, and center of excellence vision, in terms of application architecture. The most qualified individual will demonstrate integrity, commitment to stakeholders, and a passion for excellence. In addition, the Lead Programmer Analyst is responsible for developing, supporting, monitoring, tuning and the administration of applications within the organization. Finally, this person will provide leadership, guidance, project management and participate in the Applications Center of Excellence. Reporting directly to the Manager of Information Technology, this position can be based in Shady Grove, PA or in Manitowoc, WI.

Essential Job Functions

  • Work with IS management to shape the enterprise application strategy and architecture by helping select the proper application development system, operating system, servers and storage systems to meet critical business initiatives.
  • Perform the administrative functions necessary to manage a team, including planning, mentoring, training, process development, and conflict resolution.
  • Responsible for the entire life cycle for high complexity projects including but not limited to: creation of project plans, research and analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, training, and documentation - following IS standards and procedures.
  • Actively manage and be managed within the enterprise matrix as required.
  • Deliver complex information systems developments projects in partnership with non-technical business project leaders.

  • Requirements


  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Business Information Systems, or Management of Information systems and at least 8 years of information technology experience is required. A minimum of 10 years of information technology experience would be considered in lieu of the degree.
  • Expert understanding of application development and management concepts.
  • Experience in developing applications that utilize database connections
  • Expert understanding in .NET development is essential
  • Expertise in ASP.NET, C# and SQL highly desired
  • Expertise in application testing methodologies.
  • Expert in client/server and web-based application architectures.
  • Experience deploying applications in a virtualized environment
  • Strong understanding of IS controls related to Sarbanes-Oxley legislation.
  • Fluent with tools to document business requirements/processes - MS Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Visio and Project.'
  • Six Sigma highly desired
  • PMI PMP, SAP, ITIL Foundations experience desired
