This position is for a principal investigator/lead researcher on wireless communications and signal exploitation R&D programs. The work will be run out of BAE Systems Technology Solutions division where our primary customers are DARPA and other government labs. Responsibilities include new concept development, technical leadership and strong technical contribution on programs, proposals and new business pursuits. Much of the work will be performed in the context of small teams consisting of other principal engineers and academically strong assistant researchers. You will be responsible for the cost/schedule and technical success of the projects you lead. You will also be responsible for interfacing with customers and senior management at program and other reviews.

Required Education

Bachelors degree in an Engineering or Scientific fieldand 8+ year(s) related experience

Required Skills

PhD in Electrical Engineering or Applied Math with a major signal processing or wireless communications component. A strong theoretical foundation in machine learning, detection & estimation, optimization, modulation & coding, information theory, array processing or adaptive filter theory are of particular value.

GPA 3.5/4.0 or better

Dissertation or thesis with a focus in wireless communication, signal processing or stochastic systems

Strength in detection and estimation, stochastic systems and linear algebra

Strength in discrete time signal processing

Good communication/presentation skills

Eligibility for a government security clearance is required. Existing TS/SCI security clearance is of particular value.

Preferred Skills

4 or more yrs of work experience in communications or signal processing field (including internship and post doctorate work)

GPA >3.8

Experience with cognitive communications

Experience with signal exploitation including SIGINT, COMINT, and Electronic Attack

Strength in wireless communication theory/systems

Strength in machine learning

Strength or experience in modulation and coding

Adaptive filtering algorithm development experience

Spatial processsing algorithm development experience

Experience with or working knowledge of commercial wireless systems such as Wi-Max, Wi-Fi, 3G/4G cellular, and military wireless communications systems

Expertise in at least one of the following technology areas is highly preferred: cognitive communications, multiuser detection, channel estimation, signal design, machine learning, cross layer design, anti-jam comms, MIMO, SIGINT or COMINT.
