Job Summary

The primary goal of the Network Engineer is to provide technical

support to ensure the smooth operation of the organizations data

network in order to provide maximum performance and availability for

the system users at 50+ worldwide locations. This role is

responsible for installing, maintaining and supporting LAN, WAN and

VoIP infrastructures across the enterprise. The Network Engineer

provides high-quality detail technical support for all network

systems, maintains operational network documentation, advises on

hardware and software standard and assists on projects as needed in

order to upgrade to new and/or improved network infrastructure.

Success in this role requires someone who is well versed with an

incident management mindset and skills for the purposes of

administering multiprotocol routers, multilayer switches, network

security devices, wireless access points and network

management/reporting systems.
This is an operational support position that requires excellent

incident and problem management, communication and customer service

skills on a 7x24x365 basis.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides daily

    operational

    support for data

    networks (including wireless) comprised of Cisco core and edge

    devices for a

    global enterprise network across 50+ worldwide locations
  • Assists in the

    planning,

    forecasting,

    implementation, and identification of resource requirements for

    network systems

    (including wireless) of moderate complexity
  • Participates with the

    evaluation

    of new products
  • Participates in

    problem

    resolution
  • Monitors protocol

    compatibility,

    performs system

    tuning and makes recommendations for improvement
  • Provide incident

    management

    reactionary support

    on a 24/7 basis
  • Support for core

    network devices

    including

    firewalls, routers, switches and intrusion prevention
  • Configure test and

    manage

    critical network WAN ?

    MPLS infrastructure across an international network
  • Deployment of

    infrastructure

    network

    technologies consistent with corporate standards and in collaboration
    with

    Enterprise IT architects
  • Maintain standard

    technical,

    support,

    operational and security documentation
  • Support the Service

    Desk during

    incident

    response activities
  • Make recommendations

    for new

    technology in

    support of improved and more efficient operations
  • Capable of working

    independently

    in a high paced

    highly dynamic environment
  • Proactively monitors

    networks
  • Participates in IT

    Change

    Management, helping

    ensure that all changes to production environment are approved and

    follow

    proper change control policy and process

  • Qualifications / Requirements

    • Bachelor's

    degree or equivalent in computer network field
    • Familiarity

    with basic computer programs and development tools
    • Excellent

    oral and written communications skills
    • Advanced

    computer skills from a Network LAN/WAN/Wireless Network and VOIP
    perspective
    • Fluent

    English speaker; additional languages a plus
    • 3

    or more years supporting LAN/WAN Wireless networks and VOIP in

    large

    (1000+ user) environments
    • Knowledge

    and understanding of ITIL
  • Current Cisco CCNA

    or higher required
  • Hands-on experience

    implementing, administrating

    and troubleshooting network devices: Cisco, Palo Alto and

    Juniperfirewalls, and Cisco switches and routers
  • Internet based IPSEC VPN

    tunnels
  • Proficient in one or more

    scripting languages
  • A thorough understanding of the

    OSI network

    mode, Ethernet, and TCP/IP networking
  • Strong level knowledge of IP

    routing OSPF, BGP,

    EIGRP, WAN technologies
  • Strong level knowledge of

    firewall policies, NAT

    rules, IDP & IPS
  • Strong level knowledge of LAN

    switching, VLANs
  • LAN and WAN management, layer 2

    and layer 3

    switching
  • A practical level of experience

    implementing and

    administrating common TCP/IP ? based services, including DNS, NHCP,

  • Http, Ftp,

    SSH, SMTP, etc.

  • Cisco Switches and routers and

    VoIP
  • Management, Configuration,

    Change control,

    incident resolution, engineering solutions with / on Cisco Switches,

  • Cisco Nexus

    switches, F5 appliances and Cisco Routers

  • MPLS and Fiber mesh network

    experience
  • Cisco wireless access points and

    wireless

    network solutions
  • Working Knowledge of Mac OS,

  • Microsoft Windows Citrix

    and VMware at it relates to network communication strongly

    preferred
