What You Need For This Position

MS or PhD in a technical field or 4+ years as a practicing data scientist

Extensive, hands-on experience using data to solve problems, either in business or in academic research

Effective written and oral communication skills: you should be comfortable communicating your research and ideas to large groups of people

Familiar with at least one systems programming language, such as Java or C++

Adept at using at least one scripting language, ideally Python

Comfortable analyzing data using open-source tools like R

Pluses

Experience with the Hadoop ecosystem or with MapReduce programming

A working knowledge of relational databases and SQL

Familiar with data visualization in R or with Javascript libraries such as d3.js

What Youll Be Doing

Advancing the state-of-the-art in how data is applied to solve problems in industries such as finance, manufacturing, healthcare, retail, and energy

Teaching data analysts and software engineers how to work effectively with vast quantities of data

Helping customers develop strategies that maximize the value of their data.
