General Summary

The Registered Nurse is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating a plan of care utilizing the ANA and ARN Standards of Nursing Practice and the nursing process. Delegates and assists the Rehabilitation Assistant appropriately in implementing patient care. Provides support, information, education, and direct patient care to patients and family members. Utilizes equipment, technology and evidence based nursing practice. Educates patients, significant caregivers on medical and self-care issues. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team. Practices in accordance of ANA/ ARN Standards of Care, Maryland Nurse Practice Act and ARHM policies.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the Nursing Process according to the ANA/ARN Standards of Nursing Practice and the Maryland Nurse Practice Act .
  • Collaborates with Team members and health care providers to meet the patient¿s personal, physical, psychological, spiritual and cognitive needs.
  • Administers medications safely and accurately in accordance with hospital policy and procedures.
  • Establishes realistic rehabilitation goals with the patient, family and multidisciplinary team to deliver quality patient care.
  • Directs and provides patient care including appropriate documentation and use of clinical supplies.
  • Demonstrates leadership and professionalism in the provision patient care.
  • Accountable for professional development and promotes peer growth.
  • Upholds the RISES standards with self, staff and stakeholders.
  • Provides appropriate education to stakeholders based on identified learning needs.
  • Actively participates in unit/ department goals and objectives.

    • Required

  • Current Maryland RN License
  • BSN
  • Current BLS/CPR & CRRN certifications
  • 2 years of acute rehab charge nurse experience
