The Role

As a Financial Planning & Analysis Actuary in Group Protection, you will be responsible for directing financial analyses and projections in order to better manage the business, understand strategic opportunities, and limit risk. You will have opportunity to work with various areas throughout the enterprise including Finance, Investments, Product/Actuarial, and Operational and Distribution teams.

Responsibilities

Modeling

  • Directs the annual financial planning process for the business including development of assumptions, updating of models, and presentation of results to senior management
  • Maintains and updates the DAC amortization models used for quarterly financial reporting
  • Develops metrics and analytics that can be utilized by management to manage risk, explain financial results, and improve ways of doing business
  • Maintains staffing models to assist in the budget process and help to maintain appropriate staffing levels by partnering with the various GP operational areas

  • Financial Reporting

  • Assists in quarterly financial reporting process by analyzing results, explaining variances, and presenting results to senior management
  • Directs various adhoc analyses and projects as needed

    Pricing
  • Works with the investment team to understand current trends and future projections in investment results to aid in pricing and financial projections
  • Supports the pricing process through peer review and collaboration with the pricing/product team

  • Relationship Management

  • Establishes effective working relationships throughout the organization, both at the corporate level and within the businesses

  • Requirements

    Education

  • Undergraduate degree or 4+ years of comparable work experience
  • FSA designation required

  • Experience

  • 5-7+ years of experience in Risk Management that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position
  • Proficiency in Risk Management, Modeling, Modeling Software, Pricing, Valuation, SQL, Access, Financial Reporting
  • A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations
  • Possesses a bias for action and avoids workplace distractions
  • Drives performance targets to completion
