Senior Projects Manager, Packaging R&D, Plastics

Broad Function And Scope Of The Position

The Plastics Manager will provide technical leadership for key company growth and innovation projects. The Manager will also develop and drive the Plastics platform to identify and recommend cost effective, consumer preferred packages. Additionally, to continuously strive to apply industry knowledge to help deliver efficiencies in conversion, cost, and quality of core packaging.

Principal Responsibilities

This position will support all Del Monte business units. The Plastics Manager will have a deep understanding of molecular structure, material rheology, and advanced package forming processes for high volume rigid / semi rigid food containers and plastic films. In addition, the Manager will possess a high proficiency in science based testing / decision tools, and the ability to handle complex program leadership. The Manager must also independently work with Procurement and Operations to insure an optimal supply plan and cost structure to meet project objectives. The Manager must have an understanding of potential development consultants, co-packers, universities and other outside resources. Intellectual property rights are also to be assessed and ownership determined.

  • BS degree required; focus in Polymer Science/Plastics Engineering
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in Packaging; demonstrated experience in
  • Must be able to travel as required and work in different environments such as Del Monte plants, labs, vendor plants and
  • Well developed technical and all around business
  • Strong project management
  • Excellent verbal and written
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
