Application Developer
The Aladdin trading and risk management system, used internally at BlackRock and by BlackRock Solutions clients, enables customers to manage over $5 trillion in financial assets. Aladdin is central to our technology strategy, unifying BlackRock by providing everyone with a common language and a central point of reference for our investment activities globally.
The Aladdin and Application Engineering teams within the Aladdin & Technology group use the latest technologies to design and develop applications that make up the firm's investment management platform. The systems support the full lifecycle of the investment management process, from quantitative risk management to order entry, trade routing and settlement.
Team Overview: The Aladdin Product Group, Business Operation Systems, Portfolio Services team provides technology solutions to support investment accounting, performance measurement, cash reconciliation, AUM calculation & Client Reporting. The team is responsible for a suite of applications including performance calculation engines, client reporting systems, reconciliation and data publication tools.
Role Responsibility
Successful candidates should have experience in delivering software solutions to time, budget and quality. They should have a willingness to understand existing processes and systems, and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. They should be able to make decisions quickly in consultation with team members and subject matter experts and be able to build relationships, actively participate in team work, and understand the dynamics and critical nature of our business. Attention to detail and creativity in problem solving are critical skills.
Experience
5 years hands-on strong programming experience in JAVA, J2EE, Spring MVC, Hibernate, JSP, JavaScript, CSS, development
5 years Perl design and development experience - perl data structures and references, Object-Oriented Perl, modules, and packages
5 years database experience (SQL, stored procedures, data modeling). Sybase experience preferred.
5 years experience with Open Source tools (Apache, JBoss, Tomcat, Hibernate, Ant, Ivy, Struts, Spring, JUnit, JBPM, etc.)
5 years UNIX experience (ksh, bash, shell scripts)
Financial knowledge and interest strongly recommended
Experience working with global project teams spread across several time zones is a plus
Strong teamwork, passion for problem solving, communication skills and time management abilities a must
4-year degree, CS degree or equivalent experience
