Our Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Office is seeking a highly motivated individual for a Bridge Engineer/Inspector position to work on some very exciting and challenging bridge engineering projects. This individual will be expected to apply their engineering knowledge and experience to the design and inspection of transportation facilities including complex bridges.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
This individual will assist others and work independently to analyze reports, maps, surveys, drawings, tests, photographs, soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to perform design tasks. He or she will solve engineering problems using experience and industry knowledge. They will utilize the latest computer technology to solve engineering problems and improve the project teams design process and efficiency. This position will involve the structural design and bridge inspection of various types of structures including pre-stressed concrete and welded steel plate girder bridges. The successful candidate will lead other bridge inspectors as an Inspection Team Leader and prepare engineering reports and document inspection findings. Other responsibilities include being part of a design team performing engineering calculations, structural analysis and preparing construction plans and documents. Other responsibilities may include operating lift equipment, climbing ladders and installing traffic control devices and other work while supporting bridge inspection activities. They must also have the ability to coordinate activities of team members, subconsultants or subcontractors.
Qualifications And Requirements
Must have a minimum of 5 years experience. A Professional Engineering (PE) license is required. Must have experience with PennDOT design standards and have obtained a PennDOT Certified Bridge Safety Inspector (CBSI) certification. Proficiency with one or more of the following structural analysis software packages is highly desired: STAAD Pro, GT STRUDL, ETABS or SAP2000.
