We are currently looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Geologist with a focus on Geological Models, within our California Heavy Oil Team located in Bakersfield, California.

Key Roles And Responsibilities

• Build & evaluate complex computerized geological models in Petrel modeling software
• Perform reservoir characterization & advanced geostatistical routines in 3D modeling software
• Evaluate technical uncertainty & flow paths in reservoir to determine by-passed oil & improved recovery opportunities
• Perform upscaling of reservoir structure & properties from the fine-scale geologic models to VIP or Eclipse simulation models
• Review and integrate petrographic and conventional core analysis, capillary pressure data, depositional facies, with wireline logs to determine reservoir rock properties & flow characteristics of hydrocarbon recoveries
• Integrate seismic, core, engineering, petrophysical, and drilling data into geologic model
• Participate in integrated reservoir management & surveillance projects
• Consult with management team and simulation group to prioritize modeling projects, report progress, and identify resource needs
• Bachelor's and Master's degree in Geology
• Five years of advanced experience in 3D geological modeling in Petrel
• Ten years in petroleum development
• Experience with: Petrel; OpenWorks; Zmap; Geographix; StratWorks; SeisWorks
• Experience in integrating core, well log, geophysical, petrophysical, production, and engineering data into a coherent framework
• Understanding of geostatistics and fundamental geostatistical algorithms as well as data and interpretation uncertainties and their influence on modeling and business decisions
• Experience in probabilistic and multi-scenario reserves estimation
• Ability to work well within an integrated multidisciplinary team
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Additional Desired Qualifications

• Experience and previous utilization of additional 3D modeling packages such as EarthVision, IRAP/RMS, and GoCad.
• Experience and application of 3D modeling to surveillance activities
• Stream-line modeling
