Job Details: Job Summary:
Provides clerical support by anticipating and coordinating the needs of the unit. Performs Senior Health Unit Coordinator functions such as orienting and precepting new Health Unit Coordinators; communicating health information; maintaining resources and records; ordering supplies; transporting supplies, medications and/or specimens; and acting as liaison with patients, families, physicians, nursing staff and other departments. Utilizes age appropriate communication skills in order to assist all personnel. Performs duties in accordance with the vision, mission, values, goals and scope of care and services of the organization. Knowledge & Skills Required
Ability to pay attention to detail in order entry and documentation
Basic knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology and accepted abbreviations
Communication skills, verbal and written, needed to document, read and interpret patient information, policies, procedures, and to respond and relay information to a variety of clinical disciplines
Knowledge of proprietary computer systems and order entry
Education & Experience Required
Successful completion of the Winter Haven Hospital Health Unit Coordinator Course, an equivalent formal Health Unit Coordinator program or through one year experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse
Licensure, Certification, And/or Registration Required
Current BLS/Healthcare Provider or obtain within 90 days in the position
NAHUC Certification is required
Physical Demands For Essential Functions Of The Job
Ability to bend and stoop frequently during each work day
Ability to lift and put away charts and supplies required to operate the unit
Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time and occasionally (less than twenty percent of work time) to run errands as required
