About This JobJob Description
Provide process and process safety engineering discipline expertise for the Engineering Services arm of the Operation's Department. This includes process engineering support to appraise conceptual engineering solutions to optimize production, reduce O&M costs, and develop process safety resolutions to mitigate hazards and reduce operational risk. Conduct process safety risk review assessments and develop action item resolution plans to mitigate safety hazards and reduce operational risks identified in HAZOP studies. Develop white paper" summaries of recommended resolution plans. Provide technical guidance and support to onsite field engineers on risk resolution and study results. Conduct process engineering evaluations, pre-appraise and appraise phase conceptual engineering for projects resulting from hazard risk studies. Provide basic process engineering work skills and work products such as hydraulic analysis, process simulation, process selection and sizing (eg. PFDs, H&M balances, equipment datasheets,…)
Duties
Qualifications
B.S. degree in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
Minimum of eight or more years of process and process safety engineering related experience
Knowledge of all relevant oil and gas industry codes, standards and regulations associated with process design and process safety engineering
Knowledge of internal BP engineering criteria, standards and technical practices
Knowledge of process safety hazard's analysis and risk assessment methodologies applied to upstream facility design, construction, maintenance, operating and ultimate dismantlement phases of the processing life cycle.
Knowledge of process design engineering principles applied to oil/water/gas separation, gas processing /conditioning, water/oil quality, process simulation tools, fluid hydraulics/modeling and process equipment sizing/selection.
Excellent self-motivation, organizational and prioritization skills
Good interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills
Effective in working in a team setting with multiple demands and priorities
Professional Engineering license desired
Expert knowledge of PSM OSHA 1910 requirements and interpretations
Detailed understanding of all qualitative and quantitative Process Hazard's Analysis and Risk Assessment methods such as Fault Tree, Event Tree, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Levels of Protection Analysis, and other QRA tools
Familiar with tools to evaluate dispersion analysis and consequence assessments
Experience and knowledge of engineering principles and best practices relevant to design, construction, and operations in arctic conditions
Knowledge of ISA 84 and other instrument, controls, and automation standards
