Position Overview
The Office of Human Resources (OHR) is charged with planning, designing, executing and evaluating merit system principles to attract, develop, manage, and retain a high quality and diverse workforce. To this end, the Analyst, Benefits & Compensation (Analyst") will play an integral role in providing human resources support and guidance to current employees, DCPS offices and internal staff members. The incumbent will join a team that serves over 7,000 employees within DCPS.
The Analyst, Benefits & Compensation is primarily responsible for ensuring that essential benefits, classification and retirement functions are well executed to support unit effectiveness. As needed, the Analyst also serves as a backup on Compensation functions.
The Analyst, Benefits & Retirement reports to the Director, Benefits & Compensation.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree and 1-2 years Human Resources experience. Classification experience strongly preferred. Benefits experience preferred.
Excellent writing skills. Writing samples required.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Effective oral communication skills.
Proficient computer skills, including Word. Advanced Excel and database skills a plus.
Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
Ability to work in a close group setting.
Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality.
Previous exposure to or experience in the education sector a plus.

Under guidance of the Director, Benefits & Compensation, the Analyst, Benefits & Compensation performs the following 401(a), 403(b), 457 functions:
Receives Salary Reduction Agreements and applications for loans, withdrawals, transfers and rollovers.
Reviews paperwork for accuracy and completion.
Prepares paperwork for signature of the Plan Administrator, and tracks delivery and collection of the same.
Ensures that paperwork is transmitted to the requisite vendor or employee, whichever is applicable.
Provides employees with email communication regarding the status of processing of their transactions.
Provides vendors, as required, with status on the processing of transactions.
Troubleshoots processing problems and liaises with requisite g
