Job Description

• Supervise the development, validation and implementation (sample measurement) of innovative ligand-binding based assays with special focus on single and multiplex immunoassays as well as other related technologies for the measurement of proteins biomarker in clinical studies.
• In partnership with Disease Area and Translational Medicine physicians/scientists drive robust project specific biomarker strategies and implementation plans.
• Evaluate and implement innovative technologies for solving scientific questions in the field of protein/ligand-binding assay biomarkers
• Oversee assay development and implementation at CROs
• Ensure quality and timelines of the lab deliverables
• Manage laboratories according to the appropriate SOPs in compliance with Novartis guidelines.
• Directly supervise 2 Lab technicians/scientists

Minimum Requirements Requirements

  • PhD in Immunology or related biological area
  • Relevant post doctoral and pharmaceutical/biotech company experience; experience in ophthalmology , cardiovascular or metabolism diseases areas is a plus.
  • Extensive experience in innovative immunoassay and ligand binding assay techniques
  • Understanding and experience with pharmaceutical drug development tools, processes and application/interpretation of biomarker data to address clinical and biological questions
  • Experience applying biomarker assays in an early clinical trial setting
  • Familiar with pre-study and in-study validation of immunoassays according to international guidelines
  • Experience in multiplex assay technologies (Luminex, MSD, Aushon) techniques advantageous
  • Advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Softmax pro, DIVA)
  • Fluent English with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience leading multi-functional teams
