Responsibilities

Provide subject matter expert support to the projects on Conduct of Operations, Conduct of Maintenance and Work Control principles. Lead teams and conduct performance based observations and evaluations with respect to the Implementation of Conduct of Operations (COO), Conduct of Maintenance (COM), and Work Planning and Control (WP&C). Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Review work documents (e.g., procedures, work packages, etc.) and associated support documents (e.g., JHA, USQDs, etc.) to ensure site and facility requirements are met and the documents work together as written.
  • Attend associated Pre-Job Briefings to ensure that an appropriate level of detail is discussed for the scheduled activity.
  • Observe field performance to ensure that work documents can be performed as written, an appropriate level of detail is captured in the work document(s) commensurate with the rIsk and complexity of the activity, and that personnel understand the requirement to stop If a work document cannot be performed as written.
  • Observe other elements of Conduct of Operations, Maintenance and Work Planning and Control associated with the activity and coach and mentor as necessary.
  • Assist with development of corrective actions (e.g., procedure changes, provide formal training, etc.), including fix-on-the-spot, to ensure that site and facility requirements are met.
  • Assist with implementation of best practices from around the DOE Complex and the commercial nuclear industry to ensure safe, compliant and efficient application at FBP.
  • Provide documentation, tracking and trending of results to show continual improvement or course correction if necessary.

    During the above activities, personnel will engage and mentor all levels of workers, supervisors, and managers to ensure that both a fundamental, detailed, and integrated understanding of formality of operations requirements is attained. This integrated understanding includes pr1ncles of ISMS, COO, COM, WPC, Nuclear Safety, Nuclear Criticality Safety, Conduct of Engineering and Conduct of Training, etc.

  • Required Qualifications

    Candidates should have a BS degree in a technical discipline or equivalent education, training, and/or relative progressive experience. A minimum of 25 years verifiable experience in the nudear industry as a senior operator, operations supervisor, or manager is required. An expert based knowledge of the DOE requirements for Conduct of Operations, Conduct of Maintenance, and Work Planning and control and experience In mentoring and/or implementing formality of operations principles Is required. Requires strong technical, organizational, communication, and team building skills.

    Security Clearance Required: A minimum of an Lā€ clearance is required.

    Other Desirable Qualifications: Prior relative experience in performing DOE readiness evaluations or supporting startups including Implementation Verification Reviews is a plus.
