Job Summary

The Volunteer Services Manager (VSM) is responsible for all aspects of the volunteer services program. The VSM will oversee the provision of volunteer services that meet the needs of the patient and family, the team, the community at large and Hospice of Michigan (HOM), including needs assessment, recruiting, training, supervising, maintaining and assigning clinical and non-clinical volunteers and maintenance of complete and accurate records, in compliance with state and federal regulations. The VSM functions to plan, organize, staff, and direct the volunteer needs of HOM at the team and community level.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required.
  • Previous experience in recruiting and coordinating community volunteers.
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of supervisory experience with paid staff and/or volunteers.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both internal and external relationships for all essential job functions.
  • Demonstrated experience in public speaking.
  • Experience in program planning including needs assessment, goals and objectives development and implementation plans.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community resources related community outreach and volunteer services.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while functioning as part of a cooperative and coordinated team.
  • Ability to use technology (hardware and software) HOM requires Volunteer Service Managers to use in their practice such as computer, cell phone, printer, pager, fax machine, copiers, etc. and MISYS software (data entry for documentation, uploading and downloading).
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple, competing priorities. Must be able to coordinate several tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high degree of efficiency and accuracy.
