The Sourcing Manager will join the Product Development team. In this role, the Sourcing Manager is responsible for establishing a sourcing strategy to support the product development and bulk production execution of multiple categories that meet our brand quality standards. The Sourcing Manager will work closely with peers in Design, Merchandising, Technical Design, Inventory Planning, Gap International Sourcing offices, and non-GIS vendors.
-Knowledge of production: Manufacturing, product engineering, product lifecycle, calendar management, trade regulations, fabric performance and garment construction, testing standards, and product integrity.
-Fitness and/or Outdoor Sport experience a plus
-Time Management: Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects

- Pre-Season Management
- Annual/ Seasonal Planning
- Collaborate with Design seasonally to ensure we have the right vendor mix to support product design and innovation.
- Communicate seasonal category strategies with GIS and direct vendors.
- Product Management
- Direct Design & Graphic Design on sample and artwork development that align with the category sourcing strategies.
- Provide recommendations for raw material and garment development sourcing.
- Communicate to GIS and vendors raw materials to be ordered for seasonal development.
- Manage sampling time/action calendar to meet key milestones.
- Monitor on-time delivery of development samples.
- Collaborate with Design and Fabric R&D to troubleshoot seasonal style issues.
- Financial Management
- Utilize cost matrix by category during proto plan discussions to direct Design and Merchandising on raw material selection and style development to meet category cost and margin goals.
- Ensure initial costing for all development is input into Assortment tool prior to Filemaker turnover to Inventory Planning.
- Communicate to cross functional team style exceptions not meet class margin goals.
- In Season Management
- Annual/ Seasonal Planning
- Identify strategic vendor base to develop and produce product that meet the brand quality standards.
- Communicate to GIS and non-GIS seasonal vendors' capacity forecast.
- Provide input to Director to help shape and inform 3 year sourcing plan.
- Hindsight vendor performance by semester for each category with peers in Technical Design and GIS and provide summary to Director.
- Product management
- Communicate adopted styles and delivery requirements to GIS and non-GIS vendors.
- Communicate pre-booking or early fit requirements for style exceptions to cross functional team.
- Communicate to Merchandising and Inventory Planning raw material and production minimums for adopted styles.
- Confirm order/qty placement and T&A for adopted styles with GIS and non-GIS vendors.
- Facilitate adherence to booking due dates for Merchandising and Inventory Planning.
- Update Fit tracker per bulk placement and partner with Tech Design to ensure all deadlines are met.
- Review and approve care instructions.
- Manage and update raw material and style updates in File Maker.
- Financial Management
- Drive cost negotiations for adopted assortment.
- Communicate to cross functional team style exceptions not meeting category margins prior to finalizing costing in Filemaker prior to PO issuance.
- Maintain Filemaker with cost updates post style and order confirmation.
- Production Management
- Review and troubleshoot bulk production product testing.
- Manage on time deliveries by partnering with GIS and non-GIS vendors to manage exceptions to T/A calendars and Work-In Process reports.
- Troubleshoot in season production issues
- Communicate to cross functional team any issues that arise that will cause a delivery delay.
- Manage and report out on raw material liabilities
