Job description, tasks and responsibilities
- Build a healthcare employee benefits consulting practice by developing new clients and expanding current services to existing clients.
- Develop strategies to assist employer plan sponsors in the management of their healthcare benefits programs.
- Work in close cooperation with the employer marketing group for the Milwaukee/Chicago region.
- Collaborate with a client's human resources and/or finance decision makers.
- Spend significant time communicating with clients, effectively building client relationships and defining solutions for their needs.
- Develop client project proposals.
- Prepare and present reports summarizing results, describing analysis, documenting methods and discussing limitations.
- Delegate technical project work to Professional Staff and Project Managers and provide guidance and feedback regarding project completion.
- Effectively manage project budgets and deadlines.
- Understand and use the results of actuarial models, including claim reserve analysis, forecast models and financial projections.
- Analyze client statistical data and other pertinent information.
- Help clients understand complex technical matters and problems.
Bachelor's Degree, preferably with a quantitative emphasis (e.g. Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or equivalent). Postgraduate education preferred (e.g. Master's Degree, Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, or equivalent).
Experience requirements
At least ten (10) years of actuarial or underwriting experience in employer sponsored health and welfare benefit programs, with at least five (5) years selling actuarial and consulting services directly to employers, preferably in the Chicago market. Demonstrated ability to develop strategies to assist employer plan sponsors in the management of their benefits program. Cold call experience preferred.

Ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment. Self-starter who can work independently. Strong oral and written communication skills.
