Program Overview
TheKennedyDay Schoolis a special education day program for students ages 3 through 21, with significant needs, including multiple cognitive and physical disabilities, communication disorders and health impairments. The School offers a highly collaborative, interdisciplinaryteam approach with adapted physical education, assistive technology, audiology, augmentative communication, family resources, feeding team, music therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychology, reading services, recreation, speech & language therapy, vision services and vocational services.
Position Overview
Special Educators coordinate the development and implementation of each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) plan, workingwith families and other team members to identify goals, strategies andmethodologies for positive and meaningful learning outcomes. Emphasis is placed on effective communication and relevant documentation, consistent with evidence-based practice. Responsibilities include active participation in all student learning and care activities, both on campus and in the community.
Education
Advanced degree in Special Education andMassachusettslicensure as a Teacher of Students with Severe (Intensive) and/or Moderate Disabilities.
Full-time Teaching Assistant positions are available for individuals working toward licensure.
