We are recruiting for an experienced Medical Records Coder to join our dynamic Hospital Coding Team.

ATTENTION: This is a work from home position and may be located anywhere in the continental

S.

Must have land line internet access.

Well established remote coding program

Computer equipment provided

Internet reimbursement

Comprehensive training and education provided annually and for the upcoming ICD-10 release

This position codes medical records, including all diagnoses, operative and diagnostic procedures in patient medical records, using the International Classification of Diseases and enters coded information into an automated system.

Essential Functions

Using the coding system, assigns and records an accurate code to all diagnoses, procedures, and operations as documented by the attending physician in the patients' medical records.

Insures that all factors necessary for assigning an accurate DRG (Diagnostic Related Group) are present, and that all diagnoses are ranked properly.

Provides information and responds to inquiries regarding medical documentation and DRG'S to hospital staff.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Knowledge of medical terminology; knowledge of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD9-CM) codes.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of all patient and/or employee information to assure patient and/or employee rights are protected.

Computer skills

Qualifications

High School Graduate; college degree or experience preferred.

AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) and/or Associate of Science degree with RHIT or BS with RHIA required.

Coding experience or training on use of the coding manual and guidelines, medical terminology and anatomy sufficient to pass an entry-level coding screening test (online).

3+ years of short term acute care hospital inpatient coding required.

LTACH experience a plus.
