Established and Mortgage Banker is looking for a DE (FHA) Underwriter to join their stable underwriting team.

The primary responsibility of this individual is to underwrite residential loans ensuring compliance with appropriate investor standards and support the underwriting functions of the Correspondent Lending department.

The Underwriter Will

Examine loan documentations for accuracy

Work with loan production staff to secure all required documents

May provide training and direction to more junior staff

Have the authority to approve, withdraw and decline loans

May develop and recommend modifications to department procedures

Prepare all necessary file documentation in accordance with agency, government or investor requirements

May respond to investor purchase suspense requests and/or audits

Respond to repurchase requests, make written recommendations to appeal or repurchase a loan

Underwrite complex/difficult residential loans ensuring compliance with company and investor requirements

Assist production staff in structuring difficult transactions

Propose enhancements to existing processes and procedures to improve operating efficiency

Qualifications

5+ years underwriting experience required

FHA (CURRENT) experience and a must

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Excellent time management and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple deadlines

Self-motivated and detail oriented

Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work well independently and as part of a team

Knowledge Of Microsoft Word And Excel

Knowledge of Calyx Point or Encompass preferred
