Job Description

The Opportunity: Rackspace is seeking world class presales Solution Engineers (SEs) to join our Enterprise Technical Sales team. Rackspace SE serve as a technical pre-sales support resource for Rackspace sales teams and customers. SEs utilize their deep technology expertise to help design supportable, scalable technology solutions based on requirements provided by customers or prospects. SEs support Rackspace sales efforts by positioning our unique cloud, hybrid, and dedicated infrastructure solutions against those of our competitors while translating the technical merits of the solution into value for clients.

The technical demands of the SE role at Rackspace are significant. Successful candidates will possess hands-on experience with a broad variety of Enterprise computing infrastructure and cloud computing technologies.

Must Have

  • 10+ years of customer facing experience in a technical consulting, systems engineer, or presales engineering role.
  • A track record of success developing and deploying creative technical solutions to business problems for or within large enterprise organizations.
  • Understanding of technology and industry issues that impact business units and IT organizations within large enterprise organizations.
  • The ability to adapt communication style to suit audiences ranging from individual engineers and developers to senior management at the VP and C-level.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience designing and deploying computing infrastructure solutions that span a variety of technologies (i.e. storage, networking, compute).
  • Comfortable navigating through and extracting detail from the sometimes ambiguous requirements provided by customers and prospects.
  • A deep passion for technology and a love of learning new things.
  • Comfort operating in a fast paced environment that's constantly evolving and changing.
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering, Science, Information Technology or Business discipline.

  • Nice To Have

  • One or more relevant industry recognized certifications: i.e. RHCE/A, MCITP, CCNA, VSP, CISSP, ITIL foundations.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud computing (IaaS or PaaS) platforms.
