L-3 Maritime Systems has locations in Ayer, Massachusetts, Leesburg, Virginia and New Orleans, LA. Our core business is communication, navigation and control systems for Navy ships, including Integrated Voice Systems (telephone, intercom, announcing, radio, wire free, etc.), Ship Control and Integrated Bridge Systems, Computerized Information Systems and Machinery Control Systems. We utilize the latest commercial technology and apply it to the unique applications that exist on Navy ships. We are currently looking for a Sr. Systems Engineer our New Orleans, Louisiana location.
This senior level position has complete technical and commercial project responsibility for conception, overall architecture and specification compliance all assigned projects. These responsibilities include; technical compliance, customer interface, proposal writing and supplier support.
Involves systems architecture development of significant, strategically important engineering projects.
Responsible for development, monitoring and control of program technical aspects to schedules and budget.
Ability to utilize tools such as Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to Interface with executives, customers and end users for the duration of assigned project(s) to insure all deliverables are completed as required.
Ability to act as Chief Designer for selected projects in order to provide detailed design guidance and overall technical oversight. Management of junior level engineers as required to support program objectives.
Develop other business opportunities through interface with industry and the technical and program offices of our customer base.
Background, Education, Experience
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Master's Degree Preferred
Important: Experience with design of ship board power generation, electric distribution, auxiliary system, propulsion, control and monitoring systems or similar design experience.
Prior experience with Systems Engineering disciplines and protocols. Ability to conceptualize, architect, design and specify complex control systems
General background in software development
Ability to follow the guidelines of regulatory body rules incorporating them into the system design, I.E. ABS, MIL Standards, IEEE, USCG, etc
Experience performing breaker coordination studies, fault current analysis, etc. would be a plus.
A minimum of ten (10) years experience in a similar industry.
Experience with Systems Engineering disciplines and protocols.
Ability to conceptualize, architect, design and specify complex control and communications systems.
Experience with DOD contracts.
Experience leading small groups of technical personnel.
Hands on experience with systems similar to L-3 Maritime Systems products preferred.

Working knowledge of such as, Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Computer literate - Excellent PC skills.
Good to Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills. Able to develop and present technical materials to diverse audiences including Corporate Executives and Military Personnel.
Good to Excellent leadership skills. Must be able to lead a technical group of diverse backgrounds
